Classroom Placement Update #2

Hello HPE Huskies! We are excited to announce that 14 divisions were confirmed for our school on Friday afternoon which means that we can start the transition process with students on Monday, September 9th. As posted previously, please ensure that on Monday morning, your child lines up in their last year’s line up, one last time. The following is the configuration for the 2024-2025 school year:

As communicated in our NEWSLETTER #1 (posted August 29th) regarding student placement, please know that the HPE staff and the previous administration worked very hard, given the constraints of class size and composition, on a variety of scenarios to best meet the educational needs of our students schoolwide.  We work hard as a staff to consider the best learning environment for your children.  The goal is to create balanced classrooms, taking into account a variety of factors that affect the overall composition of the class.  We know that change can be difficult but your trust in our staff, our rationale and our collaborative process for the placement of students is important to us and much appreciated.  Once our placement process is complete, and children have been assigned to their classroom for the year, it is difficult to make changes as even the slightest change can affect the overall classroom composition we have worked hard to create in each class.  For those parents who provided input in June and even in the last few weeks, we thank you.  Your input was considered as a valued piece of the complex puzzle.

As the school year gets underway, we encourage you to communicate with your child’s classroom teacher about their experiences at school. I also encourage you to contact me regarding any and all aspects of Highland Park School. My preference is to solve problems before they get too big; we can only help solve what we are aware of. So please allow us the opportunity to support you and your child in creating a positive school experience that is remembered fondly. I know our HPE staff is looking very forward to welcoming our students into their assigned class for the 2024-2025 school year.
